The HBCU Week Arts & Entertainment Scholarship is available to HBCU bound and current HBCU students whose major is in the arts and/or entertainment field, and aspires to work in the entertainment industry. This $40,000 scholarship is designed to build and uplift the ever-expanding arts community. Whether you study music, graphic design, dance, film, music performance, studio art, public relations, marketing, communications, acting etc., this opportunity is for you. This scholarship award will come with a mentor and access to year-round programming. HBCU Week foundation will select scholars and match them with their mentors.

This $40,000 scholarship is available to four (4) students. This award is renewable annually and will be divided into four (4) equal payments of $10,000, over the four-year period. If a current college student is selected as a recipient, the $40,000 award will be divided equally between the remaining years of their undergraduate program.

• Recipients must recertify their qualifying GPA and major with HBCU Week Foundation, each semester.

• Must commit to or attend a Historically Black College or University (HBCU)
• Must declare a major in the arts and/or entertainment field
• GPA requirements – High school seniors: 3.0 (unweighted)| Current college students: 2.75
• Must be a resident of the United States

Applicants must:

• Be a citizen or legal permanent resident of the United States
• Complete or have completed high school with a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (unweighted) and be entering their freshman year of college
• Attend a Historically Black College or University (HBCU) for the entirety of their college education.
• Demonstrate financial need
• Be a Delaware resident

The scholarship can be used for tuition, room and board. A student may accept additional scholarships but they cannot exceed the total cost of their education.

The HBCU Week Foundation will lead the process for receiving and reviewing applications, including the identification of external participants for the scholarship Selection Committee. Following an initial, quantitative, automated screening process, the Committee will review qualitative application details, determine the candidates(s) which best fit relevant scholarship criteria, and assign scholars an overall rating. Scholars with the highest scores will be chosen as recipients, based on the number of scholarships available. The scholarship recipients will be notified by June 1st via phone call or email, and will also be emailed an award letter. HBCU Week Foundation, Inc. will administer funding of scholarships to each of the Universities. Scholarship recipients will be required to meet ongoing scholarship criteria each semester.
